2. What information we collect
When you apply for a role or contact our recruitment team, we may collect:
- your name, email address, phone number and address
- your answers to our application questions, your CV and any covering message
- your work history, qualifications and references
- information about your right to work in the UK
- whether you hold a driving licence and have access to a car
- notes from conversations and interviews with you
- any information you choose to share about reasonable adjustments you need
If we offer you a job, we will also carry out pre-employment checks. These include proof of identity, an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, barred-list checks where they apply, and references.
When you use this website, we collect technical information such as your device, browser and the pages you visit. See section 8.
3. Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To consider your application and keep in touch about it. This is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract of employment.
- To check your right to work in the UK. This is a legal obligation.
- To carry out safer recruitment checks, including DBS checks. As a CQC-regulated care provider we must make sure the people we employ are suitable to work with adults who may be vulnerable. We rely on legal obligation and, for criminal records information, the conditions for employment, social protection and safeguarding in the Data Protection Act 2018.
- To make reasonable adjustments. Where you tell us about a health condition or disability, we use it only to support you through the process, relying on our obligations under employment and equality law.
- To improve our recruitment and this website. This is in our legitimate interests.
4. Who we share it with
We only share your information where we need to, and our suppliers may only use it on our instructions:
- Breezy HR, the recruitment system that stores and manages applications for us. When you apply on this website, your application is sent securely to Breezy HR.
- The Disclosure and Barring Service and any registered body that processes DBS checks for us, if we offer you a job.
- Your referees, when we ask them for a reference with your knowledge.
- Our website hosting and IT providers, who keep this site running securely.
- Regulators such as the Care Quality Commission, or others where the law requires it.
Some of our suppliers may store data outside the UK. Where they do, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision.
5. Saved applications
If you choose to save an application and finish it later, we store your answers securely on this website and email you a private link to return to it. Unfinished applications are deleted automatically after 30 days.
6. How long we keep it
If your application is unsuccessful, we keep your information for 6 months after we tell you our decision, so we can answer any questions and defend any legal claims. If you agree, we may keep it longer to contact you about future roles. If you join us, your information becomes part of your employee record and our staff privacy notice applies.
7. Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of your information, to have it corrected, to have it deleted or its use restricted in some circumstances, to object to our use of it, and to ask us to transfer it. To use any of these rights, email info@mshhealthcare.co.uk. We will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have used your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
